After we were approached by a customer, our very first night on stage together, who said, “You guys are AMAZING, do you do weddings?” we knew that we really had something going.
Vantage Point is a combination of 5 of KC’s music super-talents. We’ve chosen some of the best music we thought a band could offer. Playing songs from every genre and era – classic rock, disco, retro, country, and top 40 from the last 4 decades.
Why should you hire Vantage Point for your venue? Super simple. We have a fantastic ability to keep audiences on their feet. If you need proof, just check out our resume. We gig regularly in great venues: Ameristar, Hollywood, and Isle of Capri casinos, Blue Springs Concert in the Park, Bikers for Babies, Neon Wild, Freddy T’s, and many more.
Meet the team:
Leah Arp, lead vocals. Leah is one of the original members of Vantage Point. She has loved singing since she was a kid. She participated in the high school choir and then her musical talents were used mainly in the recording studio, where she recorded “hooks” and background vocals for various local artists. Now a seasoned veteran performer who has looks to kill and a voice to thrill! Truly the heart and soul of Vantage Point!
Steve Alsup, lead guitar & vocals. After years of playing the variety circuit in Vegas, Steve made himself a business of teaching and playing guitar in KC. He helped create Vantage Point in 2008 and the band has been gaining a strong reputation since. He’s obsessed with sound and his electronics, continuously adding to the band’s gear. His drive to become a bigger and better band never ends and he has the work ethic to back it up. His guitar playing is spot on and he always looks for a challenge.
Kyle Willis, bass and vocals. Young and talented, this stunner came to us fresh out of the United States Air Force Band. In 2012 he was chosen by the USAF as its best instrumentalist. He is a real bass-slapper, creating that dance groove that makes Vantage Point such a party pleaser. The BEST part is he sings and boogies while playing, making him a star on the stage. It’s mesmerizing to watch him work.
Bill Graham, drums. Billy studied music in college and has played drums for many of KC’s best bands. He’s the guy you call when you need a good drummer in KC. He is also the solid foundation this band is built on both instrumentally and structurally. He sure takes his drum playing seriously on stage but you can count on him for some laughs in between sets.
Terry Wood, guitar and guitar-synth. “Where’s your keyboard player”, YOU ASK. Well he’s a gnome hiding inside the guitar of Terry Wood. For those not familiar with a guitar synth, it is a synthesizer that is controlled by the strings of an electric guitar and Terry Wood is one of the FEW that really know how to use it. We call on him for rhythm guitar, saxophone, piano, wind, strings, and even some strange sound effects we don’t know the name of. Aside from the synth, Terry is a very soulful and serious guitar player, since picking it up at age 14. His influences include: Mark Knophler, Carlos Santana, and Stella Artois — that last one is for moral support.
