After we were approached by a customer, our very first night on stage together, who said, “You guys are AMAZING, do you do weddings?” we knew that we really had something going.
Vantage Point is a combination of 6 of KC’s music super-talents. We’ve chosen some of the best music we thought a band could offer. Playing songs from every genre and era – classic rock, disco, retro, country, and top 40 from the last 4 decades.
Why should you hire Vantage Point for your venue? Super simple. We have a fantastic ability to keep audiences on their feet. If you need proof, just check out our resume. We gig regularly in great venues: Ameristar, Hollywood, and Isle of Capri casinos, Blue Springs Concert in the Park, Bikers for Babies, Neon Wild, Freddy T’s, and many more.
Meet the team:
Leah Wood, lead vocals. Leah is one of the original members of Vantage Point. She has loved singing since she was a kid. She participated in the high school choir and then her musical talents were used mainly in the recording studio, where she recorded “hooks” and background vocals for various local artists. Now a seasoned veteran performer who has looks to kill and a voice to thrill! Truly the heart and soul of Vantage Point!
Andrew Waters, lead vocals.
Terry Wood, guitar and guitar-synth. “Where’s your keyboard player”, YOU ASK. Well he’s a gnome hiding inside the guitar of Terry Wood. For those not familiar with a guitar synth, it is a synthesizer that is controlled by the strings of an electric guitar and Terry Wood is one of the FEW that really know how to use it. We call on him for rhythm guitar, saxophone, piano, wind, strings, and even some strange sound effects we don’t know the name of. Aside from the synth, Terry is a very soulful and serious guitar player, since picking it up at age 14. His influences include: Mark Knophler, Carlos Santana, and Stella Artois — that last one is for moral support.
Brett Rauber, Guitar. Brett played in cover bands in his teens and early 20’s before taking a few years off. He jumped back into the local music scene in the late 2000’s and after a couple of years in other groups formed Bad Disposition in 2010. After a successful 6 year run Brett joined Vantage Point. You’ll usually see Brett playing one of his signature Gibson Les Pauls…but watch out for one of his killer custom-made guitars as he likes to build them as a hobby in addition to rocking them on the stage.
Daniel Standley, bass guitar ninja. Daniel been a musician over the years, primarily a metal player of original music since He was a teenager. He’s played and lived in KC, Dallas, Minneapolis, and L.A. He was accidentally dropped as a child into a pool of awesomeness and badassery…so that was fortunate…
Dave Whitlow, drums. Dave began playing drums 30 years ago in elementary school and was in his high school marching band. Since high school, he has played with local KC Bands such as BelowZero, Flatline and most recently, Eyes of The Faceless. No stranger to the local music scene, Dave has performed on many KC stages from local bars to The Beaumont Club and the Voodoo Lounge and loves to rock fans and feel their energy while he delivers pounding beats!
